Install ACH After CH was installed

All,

We are on version 14.3.1.

I am wondering if it is possible to install the Advanced Continuous Historian on an application station AFTER the application station was already installed selecting the "Continuous Historian" option during the installation media prompts.

We have attempted it on an Application Station, by manually installing from Disk 2 where the ACH installation files are located.  We enabled the ACH on the node's Properties in the DeltaV database, and then ran workstation configuration using a fresh devdata.cfg file.  However, when we attempt to download we receive an error message "Error: The node does not support one or more capabilities as specified in the download....For Historian Type, make sure the selected type matches the installed historian."

I think we still have a historian type mismatch due to us manually installing ACH after the DeltaV had already been installed.  Are there any options other than a complete re-install of DeltaV?

Any help is appreciated!

  • Have you tried simply doing a reinstall of DeltaV with ACH? I'm thinking that you might be in Registry hacking territory, and that could lead you down a hole with no support from the factory. I understand that if there was a simple setting that is known to fix this, that would be great. But in the time you take to find an "unsupported" workaround, you would be finished and running if you just uninstall and reinstall with ACH.

Hi Andre, I was hoping you would chime in! Yes, we don't want to use an unsupported solution. I was trying to avoid doing a complete re-install, but there doesn't seem to be an official way to do this. I just searched in SMS with the help of an Emerson colleague, and I couldn't find anything related to this at all.
We will do an uninstall and re-install in the morning!

Thanks for your input, it is highly valued as always.
