why is the alarm shelving itself

We have several alarms that keep shelving themselves.  We do not have any reasons on the description in the shelved alarm list.

The alarm shelve timer is set at 999 on the alarms that do have that function enabled.

I checked the module, and I do not see any expressions or logic that would cause it to shelve.  I heard about dynamic alarms.  I cant find any info on that.  what is dynamic alarming?? What is causing these alarms to shelve themselves?

Thanks

  • these are SIS alarms by the way...

Alarms don't shelve themselves, they can un-shelve themselves when the shelve timer expires. You would have to look in your configuration to where logic is setting the OPSUP or OOS (this would only be in v13+) are being written to. Depending on how the configuration was done this might be a simple process (I doubt since you are posting this) or difficult. If the configuration uses dynamic references won't show up as references and you will probably have to search the FHX for code using .OPSUP or .OOS.
  • In addition to database configuration, there is possibility that scheduler (through VB script) may shelve alarms.

thanks I will check if some how OPSUP or OOS is written to it. This is highly unlikly, I dont know why you would write either of these commands to anything in the configuration...

I will let you know what i find.

Make sure there is no custom script in your graphic that is triggering it as well. Some people like to get "fancy" on the graphic and all it really does is cause a headache for the next person.
