Moving devices from VIM to EIOC

I am trying to move devices from a VIM to an EIOC.  They are communicating via Modbus.

EIOC port IP - 172.31.23.233

ROC on other side of firewall - 172.28.250.40

firewall - 172.31.23.10

I am trying to move this ROC to the EIOC.  When I had configured it in the VIM, in VIMnet Explorer I simply put the firewall address as the gateway.  Everything worked well.  In the EIOC there is no place to put a gateway address.  How do I get this ROC to communicate with my EIOC?

  • looks like the let you enter the device address which is in a different subnet than itself, and allows a Gateway address. the EIOC does not support this. it requires the devices to be in the same subnet as the EIOC.

I believe you would neet to use NAT to map across the two subnets.

or you could configure the EIOC to use the same subnet as the ROC allowing the firewall to pass the data without routing it.

Don't know if either suggestions will actually work. never tried them.

Thanks for your reply. I was also thinking NAT. I was trying to get some load off the VIM as it is heavily loaded. I was trying to do this before upgrading to Delta V 14.3.1. It looks as though the EIOC has a default gateway starting in Deltav 14. You just have to set the firewall address to x.x.x.1. Thanks again for the reply.
