Plant Messenger- Difference between Events and Alarmsp

Greetings All,

At my site we are using Emerson Plant Messenger service to send texts to people when there is an alarm. Could someone explain the differences between Events and Alarms in that software? Our outside contractor set everything up in Public Reports/Alerts/Events, not the Alarms section where it seems like it would be. I'm trying to fine tune who gets what under what circumstances.

  Events are nothing but what is happening in the process and deltav software just like changing values in the process ( analog input , analog output, digital input , digital output)
  Alarms is nothing but the any warning message or any critical messages that happening in the process side as well as in the deltav software side.Just like any trip point or values in the process for the certain analog input it will give some type of sound in the control room or on the all stations like operator station it will display messages .so that our operator can understand what is happening in the process.
