Trouble with Hot Fixes on DeltaV 8.4.2

Hi ! After applying some Hot Fixes on my 8.4.2 system (PRO) and restarting the 2003 Server, i have a problem.

Server 2003 starting normally, after input Password i saw , as always, little window with 150 seconds countdown timer to initialize DeltaV service.

But timer riches 0 and i saw error message and window with ask to switch into windows desktop with Admin privileges. After input password i saw only background picture and mouse pointer, and no more...

Please help me bring my server to working state. Sorry for my english.

These hotfixes are for Windows or DeltaV?

Do you downloaded them from Guardian?

    Sorry for my english.

Look in >Control Panel/Uninstall or change a program.

Make printscreen and send to r.kostuniak@vigran.pl

    example of Hot Fixes files - DeltaV_842_90314.exe, DeltaV_842_86972.exe ....

I can't switch to Windows Desktop ! Read carefully my first post. Now i'm on DeltaV desktop. If it possible to switch to windows desktop  I would certainly remove installed patches...

  • In reply to Constantus:

I'm simple plug HDD from this station to another and manually replace some fixed files with other (previous working) version. Now everything is working fine. If somebody knows another way please answer here

Constantus,  Have you tried booting the server in Safe Mode?

Also, have you called Emerson GSC, or reviewed teh CTS/KB database on line to see if this is a documented issue that may have a fix already documented?  You may do more harm simply deleting files.

As a rule, I always disable the DeltaV Auto Switch prior to software installations, so that on reboot, the windows Desk top remains available.  This does not help you now, but keep it in mind for future work.

I recall that you can access the registry remotely from another PC.  In the registry of the Pro Plus, I believe you can disable Auto Switch Enable and that would allow the reboot to get you to the windows desktop.  There, you should be able to uninstall or repair the issue.

I would strongly urge you to get the GSC involved or you may end up having to rebuild this machine to get back to an operational state.  Discussing in a forum like this could hurt you more than help.  I'm assuming you have Guardian support as you were recently provided with this hotfix...

    Hi

My suggestion in this situation, first take image or clone your hard disk and be sure that image is working (verify it ), if you access to local Emerson, ask about these hot fixes . If you don’t,  try to fix it in safe mode.
