Splitting Large Monitor Into Four "Quadrants"

I am looking into taking a large(1080p/50inch) monitor and splitting it into four(4) quadrants where we can send different DeltaV Operate graphics to. Currently, I only know of third party programs that could allow this.

Does anyone know of an Emerson supported solution to accomplish this?

  • Since you are using a 1080p monitor, splitting this into 4 monitors would leave 540 lines per section. This is a lower resolution that the supported monitor resolutions in the DeltaV system. I would expect that you will need an interface to sit between the console and the monitor that can be seen by the DeltaV console as four separate monitors that are then combined into the large screen. The difference in the resulting resolution will result in a loss of resolution and likely some distortion of the display images.

v13.3 now supports DeltaV Operate displays for 1080p format monitors, but this one monitor per display.

The iOPs console solution announced at Emerson Exchange last year supports this type of display management but uses a 4K monitor to split the four DeltaV monitors on a single monitor. The video management system in this console setup accepts the RDP video stream from a Virtual Machine DeltaV Operate station. This system would also be able to adapt separate video feeds from a physical workstation. Each monitor section in the large screen is allocated the compatible pixel resolution for DeltaV displays so there is no distortion on the monitor.

It would be much simpler to use four smaller monitors with thin bezels to create a large screen layout of the same size, but with four separate monitor feeds to fit with the standard DeltaV hardware. Your single monitor 1080p does not have the resolution to have 4 embedded displays without compromising the quality of the graphics.

    Thanks Andre!

As you confirmed, the single 1080p would not have enough resolution for this to work well. I will get with the customer regarding whether they want to use one UHD monitor or four separate 1080p.

Do you know if the "iOPs console solution" is available currently, and what the cost/any additional hardware that would be required? Or who to contact to get this information.

I agree the four separate monitors would be the easiest(and probably the best) solution, will definitely push for that decision!

    Thanks again.
