Dear Experts,
We want to upgrade Delta V 7.3 to version 10.3, Please advise if this upgrade will also require replacement of any Control System Component.
Hi,
Yes certainly we provide upgrade services which would help you for your upgrade plan. I recommend to contact your local office to help you identify the upgrade requirements to guarantee the compatibility and performance of the new version.
If you don’t know your local office please let me know your area so that I can direct you to the right contacts
It all depends on what you have for current hardware. If your control system has work stations (pro plus, application stations, operator work stations, AMS stations etc) that do not have enough CPU memory, hard disk size etc to meet the requirements of version 10.3, you will need to replace/upgrade them. Also if you have any M5 or M5 plus controllers, they may be candidates for replacement as well.
Your best bet is to read the Release Notes for version 10.3 and read through the "Requirements" section to figure out what is needed.
If you are planning to upgrade, why not go 11.3.1 ? ( which is the current version)
In reply to Kris Chandrashekar:
Dear Kris,
We are not going to 11.3.1 because most of the stations are already on 10.3 that's why in order to keep uniformity and easy support, we have decided to go for 10.3.
I am already aware that we we have to upgrade Pro Plus and Operator Stations to new servers and operating systems but only think i am not sure if this specific upgrade will also require Controllers and I/O card replacements to new versions ? Please confirm

Defaraz,
I have MD controllers running on version 10.3. I put the MDs in during an upgrade to version 6 several years ago. I would guess that you already have MD controllers in place so a requirement to replace them may be unllikely.
Your initial posting says you want to go from version 7.3 to version 10.3. But now you mention that most of the stations are already on 10.3. I am not quite sure what that really means. Are you saying that your workstations are at 10.3 but your controllers and I/O are not? I hope that is not the case...!!
Please refer to Knowledge Base Article (KBA) AP-0900-0148 with a publish date of 27-Feb-2012. Section 7.2 of this release notes gives you a long list of Controller and I/O module with their firmware number and hardware number (it looks something like this -- see the cut & paste below --- this is only an example. For a complete list, you have to read the article).
You can verify what you have currently have versus what is needed based on the listed requirements of that article. You can run Diagnostics to let you know what versions you currently have. Compare that with what is listed in the release notes.
