Control Studio Online

Can Control Studio Online be 'read only' mode based on user.  We installed control studio online licenses on some of the Operators workstations and have discovered that with the "online" version they have the ability to change some parameters that they otherwise would not be able to such as from a faceplate.

Thanks and Regards,

  • You probably need to take a look at your overall security policy. Control studio on-line affords you the ability to change any parameter that your log-in has access to by design. If you don't want an authorized used the ability to do this, do not allow them to use the client. You could prevent the operators from opening control studio online by creating a policy for your system in which the DeltaV Users group does not have execute privileges for the application (cs.exe or dvcs.exe depending on version).
If you need them to open and use control studio on-line to change certain parameters but not others, consider changing the the parameter default security from control to restricted control, but not before performing a full assessment of the scope of parameters that an operator will need to access through a faceplate/detail or other display (which will then be set with the control key).
