I am not aware of any specific steps to recover the removed records. My advice would be to contact the Emerson DeltaV support organization to see what they suggest.

Event chronicle data set configuration is often overlooked, and as a result data will be collected until the active dataset is full or will be lost if overwritten.

Have you Set the Current Event History Data Set Total Storage Target to a non-zero value. This causes the system to create current history data sets as needed.

Another consideration to make is having duplicate event chronicles so that even if you've done your sizing calculations for how big your data sets should be in order to be manageable, a simple network outage or server failure on your one and only chronicle does not result in lost data.
