DeltaV Operate Errors Version 11.3.1

We had a workstation in one of our control rooms that was locking up and are attempting to replace it. We loaded an image of another workstation onto a spare console and hooked it up. We got it to join the domain fine and ran workstation config on it to give it the configuration of the faulty console. We also ran regall.exe, ensured that the admin password was correct, and ensured that the SCU configuration was set up correctly. At first, all the graphics and animations came up all in pink and @ signs and it was acting as though the SCU configuration was holding on to an old path for the Pic directory. I recreated the SCU file from scratch and then copied it into the local folder as Thisnode.scu overwriting the old file. Then, I ran another regall and rebooted the console. Now, it gives several errors when booting up DeltaV Operate but then functions normally as far as I can tell.

The first error I get is "Failed to tell DVSYS we are in CONFIG mode."

The next error is repeated 3 times: "Method 'SendOperatorMessage' of object 'iFixGlobalSysInfo' failed."

Then one final error: "END command failed for reserve list processing. The maximum number of links was probably exceeded."  This one to me looks to be referencing the reserved picture list in the usersettings file. However, this code is commented out and is not being used.

I have re-loaded the Graphics-iFix folder from a working console, re-run workstation config, and re-run regall but the errors still persist. As a little experiment regarding the first error, I put a datalink on a graphic referencing "DVSYS.Thisuser/Workspace/mode.A_CV" to return the operate mode and it works correctly.

Our next step is to re-install DeltaV which hopefully will clear this up but I would like to know if there are other options to fix this issue and if there is somewhere we went wrong in this process.

  • Grabbed a workstation off of our Operator Training system and hooked it up in place of the faulted console in the control room. I went through the same process and everything fired right up with no issues. No idea what was going on with the other spare console.
