Anyone know how to get Deltav Logger to print each alarm or event to a Virtual printer as a single line per alarm or event so that I can analyse it in IMAC Sentinel?

Thought this would be easy, but I have configured a virtual printer using the generic text driver in RAW mode and connected it to an IMAC Sentinel system (as advised by Honeywell/Matrikon/ICS).

IMAC Sentinel can be used to analyse alarms and events as long as each one appears on a single line.

However, each alarm or event is being spread over 3 or 4 lines.  This seems strange as DeltaV Logger was designed to print to dot-matrix printers, so you would expect it to print all the info for one alarm on a single line.

I have messed around with paper sizes and margins to no avail.

We have only two options that I can think of to get this working or revert to an OPC A&E solution, which will be far more expensive.

1. Change the printer mode from RAW to LPR.

2. Try a different printer driver (e.g., for a serial printer or a dot-matrix printer).

It seems the DeltaV Logger is a throwback to last century and there is nobody in Emerson able to provide me with a solution to my problem.

Can anyone suggest an alternative solution?

  • Don't know how IMAC works, but does it accept text files or even SQL files? A&E's can be automatically backed up as SQL files and those files can be converted to text. (This is how I process A&E's at the moment.)
If you want a real-time solution, the above won't work.

And I heard a rumour that DV logger won't be part anymore in future releases.
