I/O Configuration to Spreadsheet

In DeltaV Explorer \ Applications \ I/O Configuration an overview is given for configured IO, types, references, etc.

This overview can be printed, but no option for export to spreadsheet is seen.

How can I export this I/O Configuration to a spreadsheet or CSV format file?

  • I use a program called TextCatch for this. For a large configuration, you have to manually scroll all the way to the end, to avoid an error when you catch the content. Result can be pasted directly into Excel

Thanks for sharing this useful information. Will you please provide more information such as the version number of the software, what site you downloaded from and cost, and can you install this on your PC that is used for connecting DeltaV through remote desktop, or it has to be installed directly on the DeltaV server itself?

  • In reply to Jaimin:

It is available from skesoft.com. I use v2.7.2.1. I never install it on a live system, but use it on a virtual Pro+ for development/sandbox. I have to make a disclamer for any liability regarding use of it and refer to the web page for license cost. I am not affiliated with Skesoft.

Take a look at the following threads:  They discuss bulk exporting and using  the download script files to get what you want.

Every DeltaV application and dialog should have a Save As / Export / or even the ability to CTRL+C tabular or row based information.  When we find one that does not, we should add the request to the UDEP.(www.userideas-emerson.com)

We shouldn't have to use screen scraping software, but in the interim this looks like a pretty good cross-platform solution.

Alternatively, the print function you mention can send the data to an .xps  file using the built-in microsoft XPS writer or .pdf file using acrobat pdf printer.  From these file formats, you can highlight and copy the information, however the output is not exactly formatted for easy transit to excel.

Thanks for posting the useful links. I have tried in both DeltaV version v11.3.1 and 12.3.1. Both did not allow a simple copy and paste of IO configuration. The ctrl+c and ctrl+v commands does not work either.

Will you provide more information about using .xps? I have trouble opening the xps output file created from print menu.
