I have an MX Series processor with version 12.3 the secondary ethernet port is faulted after a minute and quickly reestablishes communication and enters the minute again fails and is working well, how can I solve it?. in the diagnosis fails I get a moment and after a normalized time reenters fails
Check the cables by using a cable-tester or switching primary and secondary cables.
Use different port on network-switch.
The problem is either in the network or the controller. Are you seeing this on any other controllers? If only one controller, can you replace it. If the problem persists, and if you install the first controller in another location and it works, the issue is clearly the network.
Are you using DeltaV Smart Switches? If so, use the command console to determine if the port to which the controller is connected is reporting issues. As Robert suggests below, swap the network cables at the controller and at the switch. IF it is the cable, the problem should move to the primary network.
If you use a different port on the switch, and the problem is resolved, it could be the port, or it could be the cable and by moving it, the connection is made. Try and reproduce on the old port to make sure it was the port and not the cable connection.
Also remember that if the issue is the network, it might be between two switches that connect the device. Are you seeing the secondary network Number of Good connections go to 0 or is this 1 or greater? This would indicate the issue is elsewhere in the network...
