DeltaV upgrade from v 11.3 to 12.3.1

I want to minimize impact on live production system that has DeltaV SwRev 11.3.0.3865. The migration path in release notes for v12.3.1 says, the system need to be at 11.3.1 to upgrade to v12.3.1. What are the cautions for applying service pack 1 to live system to upgrade to v 11.3.1? Is the upgrade of live system to v11.3.1 a must? If I want to configure an offline ProPlus with v12.3.1, will the migration tool allow database migration from v11.3 to v 12.3.1?.When I deploy the 12.3.1 system, can the controllers (verson 11.3.0.3865) be flashed with this new version?

I will appreciate your replies to implement this upgrade in the safest way with minimal impact to live system. Please include any other related information to this question.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for sharing the link for shared application exchage. I found the link. The webpage also contains instructions for required modifications. Have you tested this tool recently?

    Hi Adrian

Thanks for the DeltaV reporter information. I saw the Tool in Extras folder in DVD # 2 of v12.0 and should be compatible with v12.0. Thanks for pointing out it's limitation.

The application exchange "uploads to Excel" tool:

I believe my colleage used this tool this year, not sure on which version.  I last used it on version 7.4.  The upload files probably have not changed.

To minimise the risk to the control system, I would copy the powerup folder to an offline (office machine) with excel, and test it from there.

This is a good tool for helping get the uploads under control, then once they are updated, more conventional methods can be used.

Thanks for sharing this app. On my first go today for trying a v11.3.1 powerup folder after changing the directory path, I am seeing that the macros started collecting data. The power folder has 34 MB size containing 4386 files and 20 folders.

According to your experience, Does it take too long to gather all data into the spreadsheet? In my test, the hour glass has been up for more than 30 minutes. I am not able to close or save the file.

    just an update>>>>

The utilities ran okay except it was not able to read two files on v11.3.1. The duplicate cells delete Macro also worked. It  took some time to compile and give output.

I have not  yet verified that the out put of the script matches with actual upload flagged in DeltaV sytem.
