SIEMEN Graphic

Dear Gurus,

I would like to ask whether anyone can advise on the following matter.

I have a situation whereby I need to transfer or convert SIEMEN HMI graphics to DeltaV Graphics without moving over their PLC to DeltaV. Is this possible? If I am not wrong SIEMEN HMI graphics are proprietary that are generated through their Function logic.

If it is possible, please share geneeral interfacing items required without having to touch SIEMEN PLC.

This also mean that control also be done from deltaV DCS graphics. This is not advisable due to delay, Is it?

Any other advise on information that I should get from Site Survey on SIEMEN system for achieving above activity?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

one way of connecting is Profibus. The only problem is that Siemens HMI directly points to variables inside the PLC. You could create one interface DB in siemens where you read/write all the values you want to.

You could also use Modbus... Same trick as before.

Some manufacturers supply OPC interface drivers to the PC with that you could install eg. Profibus/Profinet card in the PC, and read the valus to DV or write directly to the PLC variables.

I don´t know about our "virtual interface card (Etherrnet)" (can´t remember the name) could do the trick?

here the card: www.mynah.com/.../vim (you should use Profinet interface)

    Hi,

My situation is that I am suppose to only migrate SIEMEN graphics to DeltaV DCS without having to touch existing SIEMEN PLC.

They want us to migrate their graphic in 1st phase and migrate PLC in phase 2.We are not suppose to modify or change anything on SIEMEN PLC.  Is it possible?

If possible how it can be done ?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

then you have to get a OPC (DDE) server/client program to the Proplus/appstation+ profibus/Profinet card. You have to use the Siemens S7 protocool to connect to the PLC. If you use this you don´t have to change the program in the PLC, the "HMI/programming" protocool lets you to pont directly to the Siemsn tags in the PLC. How to point to the OPC<->DV tags, some body else have to answer that question.

at least this company sells OPC/DDE software here in Finland: www.klinkmann.com/.../communication-software-products-prices

here is one other : http://www.matrikonopc.com/opc-drivers/opc-siemens-s7-plc/base-driver-details.aspx

Edit: You do not have to use special Ethernet card, you could use eg. the third Ethernet card in the Server

    Hi Niklas,

The current SIMEN PLC is linked to iFix SCADA server through their CP1643 Idustrial Ethernet cards and ifix OPC is reading the data and displaying on iFix graphics on ifix operator workstations.

What they want us to do is it to replace the SCADA server with deltaV server and workstations without having to touch SIMEN PLC.

M I right to say that the SCADA server can be replaced by DeltaV Application server with CP-1643 card installed onto it to communicate with SIEMEN PLC through OPC?

R we allowed to installed foreign devices onto DeltaV servers ? How can we achieve this? Is there any tool that can convert iFix grf graphic file to DeltaV grf format?

    HI Cbpun,

" Is there any tool that can convert iFix grf graphic file to DeltaV grf format"  hard to say, DV is based on iFix , test with one picture then you will know., propably you will loose all datalinks and dynamo properties?

You could test yourself if the DV OPC will read iFix Siemens OPC/CP1643, as was described in the manual...

I couldn´t find any info on CP1643 card, is it installed in the server? is the PLC S5 or S7 ? what kind of card is inside the Siemens device.

I would reccomend you contact your nearest Emerson office or maybe my office for further assistance Smile

    Hi Niklas,

My apology the card is CP1613 Ethernet card. This card is installed onto iFix OPC server which is connected to SIEMEN network.  The SIMEN PLC is S7-400H series.

The SIEMEN PLC Port is connected to their SIEMEN ethernet switch and the iFix OPC server is connected through as per above card to this switch to read/write data.

We are suppose to replace the  ifix OPC server and ifix Client workstaion with DeltaV System. The replacement should require any change to SIMEN PLC.

  • We have a similar configuration but the Siemens OPC server is SimaticNET, installed on a third party server which we then interface to via OPC mirror (itself, is running on the DV app station), this way you don’t contaminate the app station with unsupported devices.

I think that sounds like the scenario you are explaining?

    Hi AdrianOffield,

You are right but we need to replace the current OPC server with DeltaV Application Server. Are we allowed to installed the CP1613 card onto Application server? Will it work? You have any idea in general how do we configure in our application server. Do we need SimaticNet to be installed in application server?

  • In reply to cbpun:

    Hi,

Profinet works with normal Ethernet cards, you do not need CP anymore. You do need the SimaticNet drivers, usually they come with the OPC driver.
