LOST DELTAV SZ CONTROLLER AFTER UPGRADE FROM VERSION 13 TO VERSION 14

I think I may have lost DeltaV SZ controllers on the DeltaV network after performing an upgrade from version 13 to version 14.

After following the DeltaV upgrade utility tools procedures and completed the upgrade task the SZ controller  disappeared from the DeltaV network.

The upgraded controller lost communication immediately after the upgrade procedure with red X on the affected placeholder.

The SZ controllers is neither found on the upgrade utility, decommissioned nodes or diagnostics.

The physical SZ controller indicators status remained flashing red even after power cycled.

I would greatly appreciate your support.

  • You could try decommissioning the sz controller completely. the placeholder will be grayed out, then continue to physically reset the sz controller. If the card is still healthy, it should appear on the decommissioned window. drag it back to the placeholder and download

Thank you Kuky, I had continued to physically reset the sz controller and the card still didn't appear on the decommissioned window, even with several workstation configuration done, fault indicator LED status remains flashing.
  • Peter Benedict,
Based on your description below, looks like there's something else going on, I would highly recommend you the contact GSC.

Definitely log a call with GSC.

With upgrade to v14, there was a change to enhancement security between the ACN and LSN.

If the SZ is still commissioned is the database, the ProPlus should automatically commission the controller. So it is normal not to see the controller in the decommissioned list. With commissioned CSLSs you can’t just decommission in the database.

You may have to reset the controller with only the updated controller installed and see if it comes up communicating in simplex. Then install the secondary controller and see if it comes up communicating. But review the upgrade procedures carefully and engage the GSC to work the problem methodically.
