All ProPlus database connections suddenly severed (twice in the past week)

Twice in the past week we have experienced an issue where all connections to the ProPlus database are severed.  Based on windows logs and knowledge base arcticles we thought the issue was related to an event chronicle memory leak.  The recommended fixes have been implemented, however we just experienced the issue again today.  Our system version is 14.3.1, on WS_32.  We have three developers actively working in the system daily.  Has anyone else experienced this issue and have recommendations to resolve this?

  • Hi Jesse.

I'd suggest checking your time sync is working correctly. Only takes a small clock error to cause connections to be dropped/rejected.

    Good luck!

    Martin,

Looking at all of the nodes in diagnostics, I'm not currently seeing any time sync issues. I will dig into this a little further to see if I can find any indication we have lost time synchronization in the past week, but I don't anticipate this being an issue since we have redundant time servers connected to our system. In a quick scan through BOL I didn't find anything regarding database connections and time sync issues. Can you give me a little more information regarding what is considered a significant deviation that would cause connects to be dropped?

    Thanks,

    Jesse

    Hi Jesse.

Probably not relevant if there's no sign of time sync issues on your system. I only suggested as a possible cause as we've experienced connectivity issues due to loss of time sync in the past.
