Hi, good morning.
Does the 3051S (with "Alarm limit" option C4 or C5) has an option to limit the mA output when the measurement is out of range?
For example: if I have a 3051S configured to 0 to 100 inH2O and my process variable is indicating 100 mmH2O, the instrument output will be (obviously) 20 mA. What if for some reason the process variable achieves 115 mmH2O (15% over-range)? The mA output will be 22,4 mA, or can I configure a maximum mA of for example 20.5 mA for over-range situations?
I understand that the datasheet informs that "If self-diagnostics detect a gross transmitter failure, the analog signal will be driven offscale to alert the user.", and a table shows >= 22.5 mA and <= 3.mA for this transmitter failure situation, but please note that my question is regarding normal operation. I mean, consider that there are no active failures in the instrument, but the actual process variable is over range.
The 20.5 mA limit is very useful so the system that is receiving the signal (a PLC for example) can be configured to properly identify if the variable is only over-range or if it is an actual instrument failure (detected by self-diagnostics). However, I couldn't find this information on the product data-sheet.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Rafael
