Starting the FixBackgroundServer Task as a windows service (IN THE BACKGROUND PROCESSES)

Hello Emerson 365,

Currently i need to manually open up the FixBackgroundServer Application found in the C drive "IFIX" folder. I read book online and it says that it can be ran in the background. I have an Operator logon reminder and i find the Schedulers work much better when ran in the background. How do i make the Application Automatically open in the Back Ground Processes when Viewing the Task manager

Thanks,

  • Hi Shamusk
    You can follow following steps:
    • Shut down iFIX.
    • Ensure that you are logged in as an Administrator.
    • On the Start menu, point to Programs, iFIX, and then System Configuration. The System Configuration Utility (SCU) window appears.
    • From the Configure menu, click Local Startup. The SCU's Local Startup Definition dialog box appears.
    • Select the Continue Running After Log Off check box, and click OK. This configures iFIX to run as a service.
    • Click the Task Configuration button on the SCU toolbox. The SCU's Task Configuration dialog box appears.
    • In the Filename field, enter the path and file name of the FixBackgroundServer exe file. "FIXBACKGROUNDSERVER.EXE"
    • Select the Background Option button.
    • Click Add to add FixBackgroundServer to the Configured Tasks list. Click OK.
    • On the File menu, click Save to save the SCU file.
    • Exit the SCU.
    • Restart machine to restart the iFIX
