Issue with Fieldbus temperature transmitter Rosemount 644 Rev 2.0 and related segment

Hi All,

We are using DeltaV12.3.1 and AMS 13.3. We have commissioned fieldbus temperature transmitter Rosemount 644 Rev 2.0 without error. In case we connect 2 device on the same segment then previously commissioned device and new device start showing error.

Following actions performed to troubleshoot,

- Verified segment cabling ( Continuity Check )

- DD version verified ( Using default from DeltaV Database )

- H1 card verified ( Tried replacing with new card )

- Downloads of Control module, Card, Port, devices

- Voltage levels verified ( Verified 24V across the segment )

- Segment length is appropriate

- Total number of devices on the segment: 2

Your pointers for troubleshooting are much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  • Check if the terminators are placed in the correct ends. Also, ensure you only have 2 terminators.

Verify that Rosemount 644 Rev 2.0 does not have built-in terminators.
  • Kedar, your list doesn't show anything about sensor connections. What we've seen is the default configuration for Rosemount transmitters is a 4-wire RTD. If connect any other sensor and you miss changing this in the placeholder or after commissioning, you will get an error (Bad PV).
More details on the precise error would help . . . not communicating or Bad PV, or ??
  • What do you mean by "start showing error"? Inaccurate temperature reading? Or communication error (no reading / bad status)? Or something else? Do the devices appear steady in the DeltaV Diagnostics live list or are they dropping off and reappearing? Please confirm their tags are different.  What is the voltage at the device terminals?
