AO1 XD_Scale showing 4/20 mA in Runtime but Database has 0-100%, download doesn't correct issue

I have a PID flow loop in DeltaV (12.3.1) that is showing 4/20mA AO1 output, but the database (offline) indicates 0-100%.

Downloading the CM does not change the runtime value to match the database value.

Backstory -

I was downloading a PV range change, and the upload report flagged that the AO1 XD_Scale had been previously changed in runtime to 4/20mA.

I chose poorly and uploaded the change.  We have since changed it back in the Database and re- downloaded -

But it remains unchanged in runtime:

Short of deleting the CM and restoring it from a previous version, I don't know what to do.

  • Hello SimHogan,

The online XD_SCALE shown in your picture is the actual device setting. You can access your device via AMS or Field Communicator and set the scale back to 0-100%. For changing the device scale you will need to put the device in OOS. You can also use ‘Valve Link’ to change the device scale.

    Hello Girish
The CHARM is a 4/20mA output, but it's not clear to me there's a parm to change at the valve. I'm still investigating.
  • Hello,

I am assuming that your control valve has a HART/Fieldbus DVC positioner. Please find attached the screenshot of the AMS settings where units can be changed. The selection is greyed out because the valve is in service; it becomes available once the valve is set to OOS.

    Thanks again Girish -

I'm looking at a Westlock ICOT, and I'm not seeing the settings you have. Have auto sensed again, this is what I see:

    Hello SimHogan,

I am not 100% sure about the Westlock ICOT as the setting that I showed are for DVC. However I am thinking that the below highlighted setting could be the one that has issue. If you can try then I would suggest putting the device in 'Out of Service' from AMS; this could enable the 4-20ma OR 0-100% option slection in the configuration page.

Here's the update (short term fix)

I switched the CHARM to non-HART, standard 4/20mA, downloaded the CHARM, then downloaded the CM.  Now AO1/OUT looks normal.

Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.
