Licencing DeltaV

Hi all,

I was never in touch before with DeltaV. But I heard and read only positive things.

Could you tell me something about the licence concept of DeltaV? Is it also possible to rent some licences?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Axel,
There are several areas within the Emerson website that cover the topic however here's a very brief review.
They use DST (Device Signal Tag) as a term for licensing. Every time you want to receive or send a signal to a device you need that type of DST. There are four AO, AI, DO, and DI. An AO (analog output) has the highest value.
There are also licenses for different types of workstations, Professional Station (engineering station) is the highest and View Only is the least.
A system can be just one station, the Professional Plus. It stores the database and is capable of doing everything.
There is a system without a Professional Plus. This is a PK controller. It can be programmed and left alone, or combined into a large system.
You can lease a Professional Station license. This is predominantly used during a start up.
If you just want to play around with the software and see how it all goes together, you do not need a license; you just cannot download your configuration. To obtain the software I'd suggest you contact your Emerson Impact Partner or Emerson directly.
    Hope that helps,

    Sal Salamone
