We have a new DeltaV system on site with the configuration from Emerson already imported. By default, all history collection was enabled for all points. In general this is fine, except we have a situation where we have too many tags now.
1) We have Profinet couplers talking to VIMs, therefore we have Landing Modules configured. These landing modules have many spares located inside them (not connected to a true data point at the other end). History collection was enabled for all these spares.
2) Soft CMs were created for many of the analog points that are coming into landing modules. History collection is enabled both in the landing module and the soft CM, creating duplication of history collection (and license use).
3) The descriptions of tags coming into the landing modules are all just the name of the landing module and not associated with what data the tag is pulling in (e.g. equipment ID-temp).
4) we are using the Advanced Continuous Historian (with two historian servers set up for full "redundancy").
We need to clean these up but are unsure of the best way to do this. Can a bulk export of the landing modules be done, update the history collection enable/disable and the descriptions, then re-import? Should these be manually changed (there are thousands of tags)?
Any advice would be appreciated!
