I was pretty excited to see the new features in DeltaV 13.3.1 Alarm Suppression display. I really like that there is a column to with a drop-down menu to allow "a special user" to select a reason for suppressing an alarm (it looks like a pretty cool features on the Proplus station with all privileges to DeltaV changes). The sad thing, the Alarm Suppression Reason drop menu is does not work in the OPERATOR account. An Operator and I tried revising the Alarm Suppression for several tags and we encountered "... does not have privilege to make the change" or something like that. I contacted GSE and they tell me I need to give the OPERATOR account more privileges so that the Operator can use the drop down. I feel so disappointed with this "DeltaV out of the box" feature. In my opinion, it is a tool for the Operator document why an alarm was suppressed. If there is a way to make this feature available with the OPERATOR account I would love to hear the solution. As for now, I feel like a kid with permission to go buy candy at the candy store, today, to find out the candy store is closed for the day.
