ROUT mode of pid

dear all,

when can i use the ROUT mode ?in my logic i should define one mode with no access for operator.instead of LOC mode.

  • I usually use ROUT mode when multiple controllers controlling 1 valve. i used ROUT and MAN mode for that valve. Final controller (might be from a selector) output is connected to ROUT to control the valve. This way, it will be easy for the CRO to manually control valve.

    I also would like to see comments from the expert here.
  • We use ROUT when the DCS is in control of the output, usually a valve. Our operators know that when they see ROUT the valve output is being controlled by the DCS. When we use ROUT we usually write code to lock the mode to ROUT. Once the DCS is done with the conditions for ROUT, we release it back to the operator, say MAN or AUTO, whatever is the right mode to shed to.
