Sluggish performance observed when opening trends via faceplate or PHV application itself

Dear forum members,

It takes around 30 secs when we try to open trends from a faceplate or by starting up PHV application itself. Any suggestion from the forum members is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

  • There are many possibilities, but some things to check:

Historian size - how much data are you trying to load into the trend
Network integrity - disconnected nodes can cause latency in PHV opening
Reverse DNS configured - failed name resolution can cause a delay, make sure reverse DNS is configured on your DNS server
Hotfixes - are the latest hotfixes installed

What version are you using and what structure, workgroup or Domain?

Thanks for the reply. We have a domain architecture. Workstation hotfix is DeltaV_1131_WS_20. We do have DNS reverse look up configured. We dont have any disconnected nodes. We trend one month data for the operators. Are there any issues found with Workstation hotfix 20 with DeltaV version 11.3.1?

If this has happened after installing WS20 then try uninstalling and see if the problem is resolved, if so, I would log a call with GSC.

On PHV, have you checked where "default data servers" are pointing?

Does this problem affect trends and charts or only one? Try just opening events and see the response, then try opening just trends, do you see a difference in response?

    Hi
I would be interested in knowing the solution as I am facing the same problem although I do not have reverse DNS configured. Since you have Reverse DNS configured, I would really like to know what is the issue & how can I resolve it.

    Hi,
As AdrianOffield said the first thing to check is the default servers ..
Have sometimes run into some problems were the customer have changed the screen color resolution to 32 bits, in at least older that will cause the system to almost "freeze", might be good to check that one also..
Have you checked the network, both primary and secondary are running as they should, also check the event viewer for possible errors.
