fieldbus foundation

Good Evening ;

helllo every one;

If you allow I have some questions for you;

currently working on a project with the deltav system and  I must establish a fieldbus communication with different brand of instruments for example, has a krohne brand flowmeter IFC 300 and a level transmitter and even for OPTIWVE 7300; I made several research on the Emerson website but I could not find “ file.fhx ” so I can add at deltav explorer and about  IFC300 I found three files, but the latest revision is compatible with version 10.3 is that file that will work with deltav 11.3.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  • It's not a bad practice to search the Emerson site for device files, but you can always get a functioning DD for any device that has passed interoperability testing from the fieldbus.org website. Sometimes I've even found Emerson device files here before they appeared on the DeltaV website.

    DeltaV versions 10 and higher have all passed host registration to the highest available level of compliance, and so have been tested to support the device files you download from there. It just may be that some nuances of the presentation have not been configured to display, for example a custom icon for the instrument.

  • If you cannot find the files for a device on the Emerson site this usually means that the file for that device is already loaded on the system when the system is installed so you don't need to load it again. If the devices you speak of have been around for a while then this is most likely the case. You can go to the device library in DeltaV Explorer and see if the device is already listed there.

    If against all odds the device has not been loaded on the system you can use files from the FF website like John suggests. These files do not include the FHX files, but recent versions of DeltaV such as 10-13 automatically generate the FHX file (and other files) when you use the "Add Device" wizard

    Also, just would like to take this opportunity to make all aware of the "DD Update Manager" which is a Guardian service for DeltaV which automatically updates DD files for 4-20 mA/HART, Fieldbus, Profibus, and WirelessHART devices as they become available. That is, this service keeps you system up-to-date whith the latest and greatest device types and versions

    Lastly, there is a lot happening in the area of device revision management (DD files and such) so do take the opportunity to read the life cycle management guide found here:
