I've been using VNC Server to connect remotely to Pro Plus and Application Station, this generally works fairly well with Mirror Driver (hardware acceleration). However, I was wondering if it's possible to use Remote Desktop; if I disable flexlock can I use remote desktop? The reason I ask is, occasionally VNC has glitches (black screen on logins, etc). I'm running WS2008 now for Pro Plus and App Station. I was wondering what everyone else uses for this purpose. Currently we don't run terminal services, everything is a workgroup, and App Station and Pro Plus are on separate computers. I realize I could purchase a "Pro" license, but I really don't need a 2nd session.

If you look at the general Avocent HMX Whitepapers, they indicate that they can block USB mass storage device. However, I've not attempted this, so I don't know how exactly it operates.

As Bob indicated, in v12 of DeltaV, there will be an application to block USB storage devices.

As a better point of information, from here at the Avocent community forum:

I think what you want to do is disable the VMedia (using a external USB storage device) and possibly VUSB (HID devices other than a generic keyboard and mouse. If this is the case then it is possible to do so using firmware 4.0.0.0 or above. I do not have a HMXSHDI/HMX1070 in my office, so I will base my answer on a HMXDHDD/HMX2050 but the process should be the same (although the menu numbering may be different).
To turn off VMedia: Open a serial session to the reciever (HyperTerminal or Tera Term):
1.Choose the receiver (Option 1) and enter the password.
2.Choose "Console Settings" (Option 8)
3.Choose "Virtual USB" (Option 6)
4.Choose "Toggle VMedia Support (off)" (Option 8)
5.Choose "Exit and Apply Changes" (Option 0)
4.Choose "Remove All Devices" (Option 4)
6.Exit and Apply Changes
7.Now reboot your receiver.
Now the only devices the HMX system will recognize will be generic keyboard and mouse.
