EIOC Architecture

Hi,

I'm looking at installing an EIOC to communicated with several Fanuc R30iA robot controllers.

Can anyone give some advice on the EIOC architecture?

I'm assuming it simply needs to connect to the DeltaV network and the field devices can communicate via a switch connected to the EIOC port?

Something like this....

  Yes, what you show is how the architecture would normally look. Some people might elect to put a Firewall between the EIOC and field devices (PLC's) for added security. Starting in v14.3 Parallel Redundant Protocol (PRP) is available in the EIOC if one would want /need PRP and redundant communications.
