DeltaV Phase logic Limitation

I have been requested by plant personnel to modify a phase class in one of unit module, which already few hundred step in it, can anyone in this group advise whether is there any limitation in term of number of steps, size of program or any other aspects that we have to take cautious when dealing with phase logic modification. 

Appreciate this group feedback on this matter

  If you search in books online for "capacities steps", there is an article (at least on 14.LTS) that comes up as the top hit titled "Appendix C - batch system capacities". This will have all the limits that you can think of. Specifically for steps in a phase, there is no fixed limit, but a recommended limit of 50. Generally, the more steps, the more memory and longer time to load the phase. Unless you run out of memory on the controller, more than likely, it's where the performance becomes too slow for your tastes that becomes the limiting factor.
