how to run deltav operator workstations as standalone machine without Proplus in a domain config?

Hi all,

I'm trying to run the DeltaV operator workstations as standalone machines (linked directly to the controllers) instead of passing by the Proplus (Proplus is also the domain controller). I modified all the users on the proplus machine so that they do not belong to any Domain (Computer/Domain: unspecified). I've run this configuration on another DeltaV DCS version 14.3.1 also and it worked fine. As for this DCS with the same version, it was not possible. Whenever I disconnect the Proplus, the operator workstations wont do a windows log on with any of the created accounts (except for a one that belongs to the machine and not to the domain, with this one i cant run any deltav user , it shows that all passwords are wrong). As I understood, the users database belongs to the domain controller, so anytime i disconnect the domain controller it is not possible to log on to neither windows nor deltav accounts that was previously created on the DeltaV user management on the Proplus.

Any ideas what s missing and how to fix this?

Thnx :)

  • DeltaV PK supports standalone Operator Workstation and DeltaV Operator Panel, would that be an option?

You may also consider changing from a domain environment to workgroup so that domain controller is not needed when logging in to Windows.

In 14.3.x, security is much tigher. It used to be that user credentials were cached but this may have been disabled, check below for some info. So this can be an alternative as well but the Operator Workstation needs to be reconnected on regular basis.
