Hi All. I am looking at options for porting an existing VB app to another language and/or platform such that it can interact with DeltaV. At a basic level it would provide messages to the operator and possibly write to parameters. One (very possibly unviable) option is to we-write the functionality in DeltaV.
The existing app connects to at least one SQL database and reads/writes to excel files. Has anyone attempted anything like this?
To be honest, I can't see how it can be done. Calc blocks are the only option I can see for 'programming language' functionality, but they are limited in size and commands.
Is there another recognised method/architecture for implementing software apps in, or close to, DeltaV?
