DLC3010 Level Transmitter

We have a DLC3010 level transmitter mounted on a 259B displacer sensor monitoring the level in a feed water heater.  It has been in service for about 2 years.  The display indication is 5 inches greater than the actual level and the analog output to the DCS.  We performed a calibration.  We followed the steps in the setup wizard.  The displacer chamber was drained and the 10mm nut on the coupling was loosened then tightened.  Then the mark dry coupling was performed.  Then a two point sensor calibration was performed.  A pump up sprayer was used to vary the level in the displacer cage  with water.  The actual level and the DCS indication was pretty close.  The display indicated about 5 inches greater all through the range.  Is there a method to change the display indication without affecting the analog output to the DCS?

  • I need to make suer I understand this correctly. You say you are getting the correct readings through ght DCS, but the actual display on the unit is off from the DCS system by about 5 inches.

  • We are measuring the condensate level on the shell side of a feed water heater.  At full load the shell pressure is 74.29 psia at 270 degrees F.  Today the sight glass at the heater indicates 6.5", the level transmitter indicates 9.7", and the DCS indicates 4.23".  When the transmitter was calibrated at ambient temperature atmospheric conditions, the sight glass and the DCS readings matched, but the transmitter display was off.  Now, all three indicate different.

  • The level transmitter is a Fisher Fieldvue DLC3010 digital level controller mounted on a Fisher Level-Trol Displacer type 259B. The DLC3010 replaced the original transmitter from the late 1970's. The DLC3010 has been in service for a while. Another technician who is no longer here installed the DLC3010.



    I received a work order that the local display did not match the sight glass reading. During an outage last November we performed a calibration on the DLC3010. When the indications still did not match, we went throught the instruction manual and set up everything as if it was a new installation. After that the local display and the sight glass indicated the same. The DCS reading was about 5 inches less than the display and sight glass. After the unit was returned to service the DLC3010 display, the sight glass, and the DCS indication all indicate differently. We have contacted out Fisher representative. They do not have a good explanation for what is going on.
