Startup apps on Proplus

Hello All.

I found a startup file as c:\embeddedstartup.exe with DeltaV icon, and this file run as startup application on my ProPlus workstation.

Please tell me is this file a DeltaV's service or Virus?

If this file is a DeltaV's service, please tell me what is this used for?

Thanks you.

  • I'm sure someone else will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is part of the standard Dell server delivery with an embedded OS. I believe if you are seeing this it probably brings up an install deltav application when you first boot the machine. I believe though once DeltaV has been installed, this should go away.
  • If I remember correctly, the Emerson executable (embeddedstartup.exe) should not be deleted or disabled from startup as this may have an effect on your Windows activation. The embedded OS machines have a bit for bit licensing structure for each licensed product on the machine which was designed to customize its use for DeltaV and prevent Dell OEM installations. Emerson stopped supporting Dell OEM installations when Embedded OS systems were introduced. See Emerson KBA NK-1300-0132. Hope this helps.

    Hi Matt Forbis.

    Thanks for your reply,

Do you mean this software only applies to embedded operating systems?

My site workstations are T3600, which was installed with server 2008 r2 (proplus) / win7 pro 32 bit (OWS), is not a embedded OS.

In case my OWS has to be replaced, I have DeltaV disks only and don't have the installer of this startup application, will the new OWS be missing any functionality?

I have experience installing DeltaV several times already.

    Thank you.
