DeltaV 9.3

Hi

We use DeltaV 9.3 (working on Windows XP) to control a metering system. We want to upgrade only the metering system. For DeltaV, we want just to upgrade engineer and operator station.

My question is : how to do to install our deltav 9.3 on latest Microsoft version (Windows 10).......Other suggestions are welcome.

You will not able to install dv9 on latest windows version !
Why don’t you consider to upgrade latest dv version ?

Aek, As the system evolves, changes are inevitable. The MD controller is supported up to version 13. It is not supported in the current version of 14 and beyond. Version 13 would be the furthest you can take your MD controllers.

V13 supports Windows 10/Server2016 Operating system. You can verify the v13 Release KBA for more information. You can find that on the Guardian Web Site.

DeltaV system licensing is permanent. However, over the years, licensing has changed and the licenses must be migrated, which occurs when you run the migration utility of the appropriate version. This is one reason why there are always supported migration paths, and the FHX Export file must be at a minimal version before it is migrated further. You should consult with your local Emerson service provider and develop your migration plan, which includes the database migrations, Hardware upgrades to workstations, HMI migration (monitors have changed in aspect ratio).

from V9, you should migrate the FHX to v11 and then to v13. You will also need the v13 major license, which is provided through Guardian support. I you do not have Guardian Support, and have not been issued the v13 major version license, you must purchase Guardian support to receive the license to upgrade. So although the system licensing is permanent and never expires, the right to install and use the latest version requires Guardian support.

Guardian will also provide you with hardware lifecycle information when you upload your system content file, which will help you understand what, if any, hardware should be replaced. All KBA documentation is available.

Since you have not upgraded your DeltaV System for over a decade, I can't stress how important it is for you to involve a system specialist from Emerson to help you plan this, and also for them to be ready to assist you during the actual upgrade.
