Typical Causes of a "5% Comm Error Rate with Device" Status

I have started having some intermittent uncertain and bad status indications with a HART variable from a DVC. Diagnostics indicates "5% Comm Error Rate with Device" status. I'm curious about what types of issues typically result in this status in Diagnostics.

I'd appreciate any feedback that could be provided on the subject.
