Upgrade Graphics from V11.3.1 to V14.3.1

I need to upgrade DeltaV from V11.3.1 to V14.3.1:

1- Logic upgrade : i already upgrade the logic using "migrate configuration" in "database administrator"  " upgrade V11.3.1 to V13.3.1 then from V13.3.1 to V14.3.1" .

2-Graphics upgrade: i need the support to do this task " please provide me the steps in details"

Thanks in advance

  • Do you need to upgrade the graphics from 11.3.1 DeltaV Operate to 14.3.1 DeltaV Operate or DeltaV Live?
  • Broadly speaking, graphics created in "iFix" for v. 11.3.1 and before will still function in v14 - there is no "migration" needed per se.
I would recommend applying the latest "hotfix" for workstations; last I checked we're at release 17 or so for 14.3.LTS.
"Factory" faceplates and details will have incorporated more features afforded in v14, like alarms have an "OOS" state as well as an "OPSUP" and "ENABLED" state. If you utilize any custom faceplates or details, you might choose to edit them to include the new features.

John, note that DeltaV versioning has changed. v14.3.1 is now called v14.LTS. There is no v14.3.LTS. ( v14.3.1 = v14.LTS)

The initial engineering release of 14.3 was followed by v14.3.FP1, followed by v14.3.1, which is a mandatory upgrade for continued support.

Emerson has introduced the LTS versioning scheme that includes the possibility of up to three Feature Packs within each major LTS version. This allows new features to come to market rather than having to wait three years between major releases. We have already seen v14.FP1 (which is not v14.3.FP1) which delivered some additional language versions. v14.FP2 is anticipated some time this spring. A third FP, if deemed necessary, would arrive 9 months after FP2.

The FP releases are optional. The LTS release remains fully supported with Hotfix updates as needed. You can skip a Feature Pack and only apply the second, or just FP3 if you prefer. This allows for early adoption of a new feature as opposed to early release in the form of an engineering release. The advantage is that the FP release is fully supported and need not be upgraded to the LTS version upon its release. In the past Engineering releases have been deployed to production and it is mandatory to upgrade to the service pack release (.3.1) once available.

So embrace the change and free yourselves of the dot three naming convention. This is a good change.

What about SP1? From Guardian, I see the following:

If I now want to create a system with the latest and greatest, what would I need to start from? LTS, then FP2?

  • In reply to Martin v. Bergeijk:

DeltaV v14 Feature Pack 2 can be installed only on systems that have DeltaV v14.LTS or DeltaV v14.FP1 installed.

FP2 requires workstation reboots and controllers to be flash upgraded, so consider this as part of your upgrade planning. There is a .CHM help file on DVD1 of the v14.FP2 ISO files (Surprisingly no KBA with FP2 release notes).
