Interfacing a PK Controller to Siemens Simocode using Ethernet/IP

Hello everybody,

I am trying to interface a PK Controller to a Siemens Simocode as a test simulation for one of our customer.

The PK Controller can't seem to communicate to the Simocode ProV EIP and I am told I must load a EDS file onto DeltaV Explorer. I downloaded an EDS file from the Siemens website but I get a parsing error. I have even logged a call with GSC but we can't seem to get this to work (please see error message below). I have done a test run and it seems any EDS' that I download from the ODVA.org website load without any errors, unfortunately, I cannot find a EDS for the Simocode on the website.

Parsing EDS file  C:\Users\Emerson\Desktop\PK & EIOC\Siemens_Simocode_V1.1.0.eds

Invalid Entry Field on line 23

PARSING ERROR:  This file cannot be imported.

  • Hi Lebogang,

    I've seen elsewhere RE: PK Controller Questions - ODVA and EDS that EDS files are not supported currently however..

    They import into DeviceNet and this particular EDS must be edited in 2 ways to allow an import;

    Remove 'IconContents =...' and everything underneath it

    Change 'Manufacturer' to anything else (I chose Turck) as it does not create a Siemens directory where one doesn't already exist.

    The EDS will then import but it's very basic once that is done, its better to inspect it with EZ-EDS.

    Not very helpful somethings I've recently learned!

    Kind Regards,

    Christopher
