Delta V operate Tool Tips

We are running 11.3.1.  We use tool tips to give information on a few tags that are not clickable.   The tool tips is a great feature to do this, however the tool tip does not remain visible for very long.   The tool tip pops up as the mouse cursor hovers on the tag but the tool tip quickly goes away.   It stays visible for less than one second.   is there any way to make the tool tips remain visible longer?   Thanks for any help.

  • I believe if you open the property window in DeltaV Operate - Edit mode there is a time setting for the tool tip display time.

Thanks for the reply but i do not see that feature in properties for either the individual item or for the page as a whole. Where else can I look? I have hunted but cannot find it! I'm sure its just me not clicking the right thing. Any additional help is appreciated.

In my 11.3.1 simulate, the tool-tip remains indefinitely as long as I don't move the mouse. Make sure to keep the mouse still before it appears or else it disappears almost immediately.

A completely different solution. Set aside a dedicated part of the graphic for displaying tooltips, animated based on a graphic string. On mouse move event for each item for which you want a tooltip, copy the item's tooltip text to the graphic string. The tooltip will remain until replaced by another tooltip. Any number of methods could be used to clear the graphic string.
  • Does the tool tip reappear again after disappearing ie does it flash or is it just a single brief appearance? There is an issue where if there is an alarm summary being displayed on one of the monitors the tool tip flashes on and off. I believe this is caused by focus being transferred away from the mimic with the tool tip to the alarm summary and then back again. If not an alarm summary have you anything on display which might cause the mimic to lose focus?

Fantastic! That's it. It was the side panel with the alarm summary making it happen. We changed the settings to get rid of the side panel and the blinking stopped. Who woulda thought ! :) Thanks for everyone's responses.
