Risk of Downloading I/O Data

Is there any risk of downloading an M-series traditional I/O card (AI, AO, DI, DO) that will effect anything referencing channels on the same card that were not modified?  I have always tried not to download an I/O card that had other channels enabled on it that were being used in a running process. Typically I wait until a bump in any of the I/O on that card would not be an issue as the process was either idle for a brief period or shutdown.  Recently I came across the following excerpt in books online and figured I would ask on here to see if anyone could confirm this:

  Downloaded multiple AI, AO, DI, and DO M-series I/O cards this morning without any issues and I have done it many times in the past. You should be fine but I always warn the control room just in case something happens.

  Yes, keeping the control room informed on what is going on is always a good idea. I downloaded the cards that had the modified points on them and we did not see any issues with other loops that referenced points on the same card. Thank you for the reply.

  On rare occasion, I will get an intermittent IOF alarm on the modules referenced by the other IO on the card, but have not had an control issues.
