Control studio is not opening in our site

Here we have only one EWS. No anti-virus installed. Control studio is not opening in that system. Even we copied CS.EXE file from other Phase system with deltaV and pasted in the BIN folder. Control studio opening for 5 sec. then it is automatically closing and the CS.EXE file getting deleted from the location where we pasted automatically. if we try to open control studio again its poping like CS.EXE file missing. Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance,

jery

  • Personally, I've never experienced a situation where DeltaV files were "disappearing".

If this were due to insufficient licensing, I'd expect a dialog to that effect.

If you configured the workstation as an Application station, by default, all files are installed, but in the Start menus, you will not see the various DeltaV programs that are not permitted. But even on App stations, the CS.EXE file is installed in the DeltaV/Bin folder and should not be deleted.

This would be a candidate for a rebuild of the machine, from a total OS install and then DeltaV, and paying close attention to the DeltaV installation guidelines, including compatibility of the hardware. I would not simply "repair" the OS, but reinstall and reformat the hard drive. And don't take any shortcuts.

The downside of this approach is you won't know what was broken, but if it works, you are good to go much sooner than chasing an anomaly no one has seen.

If the issue is still there, you either have a corrupted installation media, or your PC is not running supported drivers and one is causing some conflict, or the PC is not supported. If the issue is still there after rebuild, you need to contact the GSC and open an incident for investigation. Of course, if you are using unsupported hardware, they will have limited capability to assist as they cannot reproduce your issue on hardware they don't have.

If everything is supported hardware and software and licensed, then the GSC is the way to go. They may have a similar call where this has already been solved. If you don't have Guardian support, this might be a good time to try it.

Although many of us on this forum want to help, we offer a limited perspective on any problem, based on our experiences. Some suggestions, like mine above, may simply waste your time, because I don't know what the root cause is. This is what I would do as it is something I can control.

Lastly, if you downloaded the DeltaV software or the Microsoft OS or any drivers, you should run the SSH utility to confirm the files downloaded without corruption or are not infected by a virus. Again, without any information, this would at least eliminate the media as a source of the problem.
