Password Expiration Prompt

Hi All,

Wondering if current password policies include prompting a user when their password has expired?

Regards

John

  • As far as I know, the password expiration follows the Windows specifications (Unless the password is configured not to expire).
When the password has expired, the user will be prompted at the first logon to change his password.

Thanks Maarten - yes that would be the case when logging in at windows level
But does that apply to, for example, a operator workstation that is setup to auto logon to windows & has DV operate running continuously? In other words, the operator will not know when their account has expired as they won't be logging into Windows

That is an interesting scenario! Autologon to windows uses the (expired) password, so I would guess the logon will be denied because of the expiration.
This implies that the password should be changed before the expiration time, together with the specifications of the autologon.
When the operator logs on into DeltaV - where Windows has started - he will get a message to change his password before he can logon.
