Hi,
We are looking to migrate a PLC-based control system with WinCC SCADA to DeltaV (V13) control. Initially only the WinCC SCADA (version 7.0) will be replaced maintaining all the PLCs (1 S7-400 and 13 S7-300's). The PLC functionality will be migrated later in a phased approach. There are 14 PLCs in total, 6 of which have a profibus communication network. All PLCs are communicating back to the WinCC scada with Industrial Ethernet. We are looking at interfacing to the existing PLC network with as little impact to the PLC side as possible. Some of the instruments will need to be controlled from the DeltaV graphics and not just display status.
We looked at using OPC, VIM2 or an EIOC card. We initially discounted OPC because we needed to control some of the instruments and for cost. We weren't sure would the EIOC option work with a gateway card. Then from what we've read we understand that to use the VIM2 we would need to put couplers on the PLC side and what would be involved with that?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated on what options are out there to interface between the DeltaV and PLCs?
Thank you,
Kind Regards,
Mark
S7-400 has CPU 414-2 DP and CP 443-1 card.
Siemens Profibus network has the S7-400 as master with 5 slaves.
