Lost VIM configuration file(VIO) and completely forgot VIM IP address

Hello everybody , we need some help!

I'm doing site commissioning for DeltaV system which is using VIM Card for ModbusTCP interfacing

during FAT period we've configured and commissioned the VIM card with specific IP address assign to the VIM

Unfortunately, after everything ship to the site we have lost our configurations file for the VIM and completely forgot the VIM IP address

is there any way to decommission the VIM Cards without having the IP address of the VIM ? and how can connect to the VIM without having its IP address

what I understand is we have to know the IP address of the VIM for setting our  PC/Laptop IP address in order to connect to the VIM by the VimNet Explore.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

  • You should probably contact Mynah for help on this.

  • You should be able to determine the IP address with standard tools in your Windows PC. Connect your PC to the network for your VIM. From the command prompt run the command "arp -a". You should get a list of active addresses on the segment. You can also try "netstat -b" to get a list of ports and processes.
  • Get the latest version of VIMNet Explorer. There is a procedure called out in the help file for "Recover VIM Configuration."

I would use fairchdm's suggestion on discovering the IP address of the VIM so that you can configure you laptop for the network. Once that is done, use the recovery procedure.
