One More Call for New Service Name Ideas

Last week,  created a post soliciting names for a new service we're developing in Lifecycle Services. Tentatively called the DeltaV Upgrade Bridge Service, the new service is designed for customers who are running DeltaV version v11.3.1 on their system and won’t be able to upgrade before the end of the Conventional Software Support (CSS) period ends in December 2016.

We've received several great name ideas — most of which were posted in the comments of Chris' post. But we're still open to finding a suggestive-but-catchy name for the new service. If you have any other ideas, please let us know. Or go back to the original post (you can click on the tag below to find it) and "Like" or comment on one of your favorites.

Also, visit us at the Lifecycle Services booth at Emerson Exchange to share your great ideas!

  • I'm not clear on why this needs a new name... isn't it just extending identical coverage as Guardian Support to older versions of DeltaV? So from the customer perspective, is it the same thing as Guardian Support. A different name would just add confusion and require additional explanation about how it's really not any different but has a different part number and price.

Why not just call it "Guardian for Legacy Versions"? And if you need to have a catchy new name, use the acronym "GLV", but pronounce it "DeltaV Glove".

  • Please, could you stop calling for a new name for an existing - but apparently ending - service?
I completely agree with Bill Tinley that the "new service" is an existing service from the customer perspective.
So please, stop this spam and give the customer their required service.

Hi Maarten van der Waal.   Based on the number of responses, users seem to be excited for both the bridging of services and the opportunity to help name the services.
