  When scoping and planning for a reliability project, it's always best to establish a business case based on improving asset availability and reducing maintenance costs. You will need to establish the benefits to support funding and secure executive sponsorship, which you will probably need to drive change in culture, process and technology.   Remember to consider the many new solutions which are now available thanks to wireless sensors and analytics software. Manual data collection and analysis can be automated. More frequent data collection also means that developing problems can be captured early.
