What could be the reason why I can't open the AMS Device Manager in DeltaV Proplus?
Alec, there could be a number of reasons. If you haven't already received an answer please let me know the error message you are receiving when attempting to open AMS Device Manager.

We also had similar problems. Check that the dv-network is installed in AMS. Also you have to a add a user.. (my memory is failing me :( ) at least here some info :-
If AMS Device Manager is not installed on the Plant Network Domain Controller, the AmsServiceUser account must be manually added to the Plant LAN Domain Controller.
aslo if you don´t have a license you have to launch ams from DV.
