Looking for a WIFI solution to connect an HMI Computer

Hi there

Are there any existing solutions (hazardous environments) that allow a handheld device (Cellphone or tablet) to connect to a headless computer for remote monitoring and control?

I'm wondering what is being used in the O&G world today!

Any insights are appreciated.

Thanks

John

Thanks I will check it out.

I'm also interested in the supporting infrastructure. eg the hardware providing the access point to the network.
  • I’ve heard two customers report that FMC (E&H) offers Wi LAN wireless connection to their Coriolis transmitters for configuration.  I cannot find it on their website.

  • Hi John, we have a few solutions here that I would like to highlight which probably meet your needs. Firstly, Emerson's Wireless Plant Network (www.emerson.com/.../wireless-plant-network) provides the Wireless 802.11 infrastructure that you need. With these rugged access points, we can also provide a solution called "DeltaV Control Network Bridge" (www.emerson.com/.../deltav-wireless-control-network-bridge) which might be of interest to connect a remote HMI computer back to the control network without needing to run fiber optics. There are two handheld device solutions: (1) DeltaV Wireless Mobile Workforce (www.emerson.com/.../wireless-mobile-workforce-en-40954.pdf) and (2) DeltaV Mobile (www.emerson.com/.../deltav-mobile-en-585636.pdf). The first one can be configured to allow write-access with a full DeltaV or AMS session (e.g. your "control" requirement). Panasonic ToughPad FZ-G1 andToughbook CF-31 are good choices for that. DeltaV Mobile is tailored for iOS and Android devices, but it's limited to read-only (e.g. remote monitoring)
