Smart Instruments and Calibration
Instruments – the originator of data – are critical elements of a plant. The concept of 'big Data' promises increased efficiency by shifting the 'gut based' decision model to an analytics based decision model. Unfortunately, analytic based decisions are as good as the quality of the data. This session will include in a group discussion where individual ideas will be unveiled around managing/understanding data integrity at the device level, and these ideas will be synthesized into a coherent thesis. The sub topics of the group discussions are:
• Evolution of Instruments...from hydraulic to Pneumatic to electronic to digital
• Smart instruments...predictive intelligence; control at the instruments
• Regulatory and standard requirements
• Data integrity...calibration excellence
• Managing the data
• How to react to and use the data
