I was having a conversation with a colleague yesterday about potential improvements to an existing Pulp and Paper plant. Apart from the potential improvements using our excellent industry specific packaged solutions like Smart Cook etc. for the P&P industry, I want to emphasize that we must also lift our gaze and look at the whole plant for even more potential ROI!
As someone said; you don't know what you don't know - what information is the plant not aware of today? This is where Condition Monitoring and IIoT comes into play. For example; use Wireless to easily instrument parts of the plant where you don't have good metrics. Use AMS to gain insight about how you are running your equipment. And, also consider automation of control
First, find out how good you REALLY are doing today. Then, proceed from there to identify potential savings and improvements!
